Week of Jan. 28
For American History: Projects should be picked and no changes to the project type should be made at this point on. Students should start to do research on the Cold War content that they will be demonstrating. By Feb. 8 students will need to have completed their bibliography with five reliable/peer-reviewed sources. Online sources should be journals, databases, scholarly articles. Not general websites like History Channel. Students need to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of there content, not an overview of the material. I will discuss handing this in and the format next week.
Week of Jan. 22
For English: This week we are studying Chapters 6 & 7 from The Great Gatsby. Students are responsible for completing in-class activities, discussions, and worksheets as well as maintaining their dialectical journals. They should be doing 2 entries per chapter. On Friday, my class will be doing some AZMerit Writing practice on the topic “Does Money Buy Happiness?” They will be practicing how to read informational texts and how to create a successful essay outline for a test.
For American History: Students should be starting their research on the content that they will be analyzing for their Cold War project. Secondly, students will be having a quiz on a reading that is being handed out to them this week. They will need to annotate this reading and have that completed at the time of the quiz (Jan 28/29).
Week of Jan. 14
McDowell and Glithero - English Lit: Work on your dialectal journals of The Great Gatsby. (Chapters 4 & 5) . Instructions for this can be found here. They should have 2 entries for each chapter. Mrs. Glithero and I will be checking for these entries at the end of this week/beginning of next week.
Sutton - Ceramics: This week we are learning about the Civil War Pottery known as Face Jugs. There is a power point in their google classroom drive. They are asked to create sketches and work on really researching what kind of face they would like to create and they must be signed off on before creating them. Many students did not finish assignments and have zeroes for the assignment until they are turned in. I have open studio hours Monday and Friday.
Robertson - American History:
Students should pick which project they want to do for their Cold War project by Friday. There is a google form on my weebly in which they need to fill out. The project choices are also on this page as well.
